Under the hood

How the ATS checker scores you

No AI and no guesswork: 14 fixed checks run on the plain text an applicant tracking system would see. The same file always gets the same score.

  1. Every check carries a weight

Readable text counts the most. The file name barely moves the needle.

  2. Pass, warning or fail

A pass earns the check's full weight, a warning earns half, a fail earns nothing.

  3. Unreadable means unreadable

If fewer than 150 words can be read — typical of a scanned or image-only resume — the score can't go above 20.

FAQ

Questions about the ATS checker

How the checker reads your resume, what the score means and what happens to your file.

What does an ATS resume checker do?

It reads your resume the way many applicant tracking systems do — as plain text — and checks that your sections, contact details, dates and bullets come through cleanly.

Is my resume stored?

No. The file is read in memory to run the checks and then discarded. Nothing is saved and you don't need an account.

Does a high score guarantee interviews?

No tool can promise that. A high score means your resume is easy for software and recruiters to read; tailoring it to each job is the next step.

Why did my nicely designed resume score low?

Columns, tables, text boxes and icons often scramble the reading order for parsers. A clean single-column layout is safest.
