How tailoring works (and why it never makes things up)

What changes in a tailored resume, what never changes, and how to edit it.

Tailoring reorders, rephrases and emphasises your existing experience to fit a specific job. It mirrors the posting's wording only when it truthfully describes what you did.

What never changes

  • Employers, job titles and dates
  • Degrees, schools and certifications
  • Numbers — every metric must already be in your profile
  • Skills — only ones you already list or clearly used

Every tailored resume is checked against your profile before you see it. Anything that fails the check is removed and your original bullet is restored.

Editing

Open any resume or cover letter from Documents to edit the text, change the template, paper size or spacing, and re-download — editing never uses a credit.
